Time to update my blog and let everyone know what's going on! :-)

As most of you know by now, Dragons Realm is out in paperback, eBook, and Audio Book. Thanks to all of you, it has been a #1 New Release on Amazon since the day it was released, including hanging out as a #1 bestseller in Dark Fantasy and Gothic Fiction.
Thank you!

And now to answer the most popular question:

Let me approach this question in two parts: why it's currently a stand alone and what the future may hold... :-)

When I set out to write Dragons Realm, it was a "bucket-list" project for me. :-) I have always revered the epic fantasy writers and longed to try my hand at a pseudo-medieval time period with my own unique brand of vampiric dragons. In addition, I had already drafted a new, modern-day dragon series, and I wanted a chance to flesh out the savage beasts I envisioned in a truly fantastical realm. Thus, Dragons Realm...

That said, I had no idea how hard this book would be to write or how long it would take to write it! LOL

Two years into the process, I realized that I needed to reevaluate a few things: Although I had initially planned to make Dragons Realm a trilogy (Dragons Realm, Dragons War, and Dragons Lair), it became abundantly clear that this "trilogy" would take about 6-7 years to complete, I would have to back off writing the Blood Curse Series to get it done, and readers would still have to wait years between releases. Heck, the world-building alone took me nearly six-months to create! So there I was with this complex story, enough world-building to sustain a long term series, and the sudden realization that this was going to be a monumental task that would require the majority of my focus...and time. One thing was clear: I could not speed it up and still do it well. There was simply too much research and cross-checking required.

Eventually, I figured out a way to plot the original story into a single, stand-alone book with three distinct parts, and this took another nine months. So *that* is how Dragons Realm came about, and now that it's out, it is no surprise that readers are seeing the scope of the world building, feeling a strong connection to the characters, and wondering if there isn't a whole lot more that could come from this saga: say, an entire series or a serial? Perhaps, several individual short-stories?

And my answer to the question is this: I hear you, and I completely agree ~ there are so many future possibilities. :-) However, one fact remains: It is still a very slow-going, complex sub-genre (for me as a writer), and anything I work on will take quite some time to complete. With that in mind, I am weighing all the options. Yes, two-to-three years would be a long time to wait for a sequel, but perhaps a short-story (something that picks up thirty-years into the future) is in order. :-) I can certainly see a dozen possibilities.

In the meantime, I am very excited to continue work on book #8 in the Blood Curse Series (Blood Ecstasy) and book #1 in the Pantheon of Dragons series (Zanaikeyros ~ Son of Dragons). You can follow the links below to learn about the latter. :-)

    1. Thank you! I will definitely concentrate on BCS and POD (I'm real excited about the latter), but may have to see if I can juggle a short story...we shall see. :-)

  3. This book is amazing, I was a little hesitant to read it because I LOVE the Blood Curse series and didn't want anything taking time away from it. But I am so very pleased that I did read it, it is truly amazing!!!! I look to the forward to anything that may come of the book. And am so excited waiting for Blood Ecstasy

    1. Thank you, Joan!

I'm glad you decided to try it. :-) As always, if you haven't done so already, please consider leaving a review...always deeply appreciated. Happy Holidays!

  4. Wouldn't it be great if master writers were like master painters....a team of underlings to execute the imagination of one gifted mind ....but alas painters only create on a two dimensional scale....whereas writers must set the stage for the endless variations that their readers imaginations can conger....a daunting and solitary task....We your readers are here to savor all that you put before us.....

    1. Hi Tessa...It's Marcia Moir....forgot to enter my name......

    2. Thanks so much, Marcia! :-) What a beautiful idea. Really appreciate the support!
